Young boy sent to Guatemala as parents deported, siblings remain in U.S.

Tears and goodbyes at Miami International Airport marked the departure Friday when the youngest Domingo chld was sent to Guatemala to live with his parents after they were taken into immigration custody last month. Family members said the separation began in early August when the family was leaving church and their 18-year-old daughter was driving; the parents were later deported. The move will reunite the boy with his parents but separate him from his four siblings who remain in the United States. Officials involved in the immigration actions were not named in the family’s account; the siblings will remain in the U.S. while the parents and youngest chld are in Guatemala. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
