Woman fatally shot in Orange County home; sheriff's office seeks tips

A 19-year-old woman was shot inside a residence in Orange County in the early hours of Thursday and later died at a hospital, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office reports. Deputies responded to the Ole Heritage Drive at about 12:55 a.m. after receiving a shooting report and found the victim with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

Sheriff’s investigators are treating the incident as an active homicide investigation. Detectives processed the scene and are following investigative leads, and the agency has asked the public to come forward with information. Deputies stated that, based on what they have learned so far, there is no indication that anyone inside the home was specifically targeted for violence.
