Woman arrested after marked BSO vehicle stolen from Public Safety Building parking lot, deputies say

Broward County, Florida — A woman was taken into custody Tuesday night after a marked Broward Sheriff’s Office vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of the agency’s Public Safety Building in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

According to BSO, 911 dispatchers were notified shortly after 9 p.m. that the marked vehicle had been stolen from the public parking lot area of the building, located on W. Broward Blvd. Investigators worked to locate the stolen vehicle with assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol, Port St. Lucie Police Department and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was eventually located along the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 on Gatlin Road on Port St. Lucie, according to BSO. The SLCSO confirmed that the vehicle was found abandoned on the Gatlin Boulevard off-ramp.

According to the agency, SLCSO deputies then spotted the suspect, Shannon Dillon, 42, in the area wearing an outer ballistic vest displaying BSO insignia. Dillon was immediately taken into custody.

She faces the following charges in St. Lucie County: • Grand theft of law enforcement equipment • Unlawful use of a police badge or law enforcement vehicle • Unlawful possession of four or fewer identification items • Possession or use of drug paraphernalia • Possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon • Driving while license suspended • Resisting an officer without violence Authorities confirmed that she also faces the following charges in Broward County: BSO officials said the investigation remains ongoing.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
