Woman Admits to Stealing and Pawning Employer's Jewelry Over Years
A 48-year-old woman from Miami-Dade County was arrested after admitting to stealing and pawning jewelry belonging to her former employer over several years. The investigation began on July 22, 2022, after the victim reported missing jewelry from her Palmetto Bay home. The victim, a cleaning woman for 12 years, noticed jewelry and watches disappearing, including Cartier and Rolex watches, necklaces, gold bracelets, and earrings. Investigators used a database to track 73 pawned items worth approximately $36,437. The woman provided pawnshops with her driver’s license, home address, phone number, and place of employment each time she pawned the jewelry. On March 18, 2022, she pawned an Oyster Rolex watch, which she later repurchased on April 29, 2022. The woman was arrested on March 18, 2023, and is currently in custody. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
