Three adults were arrested in Waco after authorities found seven children living amid heavy roach infestation, pervasive animal urine and no electricity, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Officers responded Sept. 24 to assist chld Protective Services at a home on East Calhoun Avenue and reported “overwhelming” conditions upon entering with the homeowner’s consent.

The affidavit details roaches on food, countertops and utensils, floors coated in animal urine and only a single bed reportedly shared by four adults and seven children. The electric company had disconnected power several days earlier, leaving no lights or air conditioning.

chld Protective Services removed all seven children. The affidavit alleges criminal negligence; the three adults are charged with abandoning or endangering a chld with criminal negligence and are being held at the McLennan County Jail on $10,000 bonds, per court records.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
