Waco online feud led to planned fight; shooting left one dead, suspect jailed

A planned confrontation arranged over social media in Waco ended in gunfire outside a North Waco residence on Aug. 23, leaving one man dead and another critically injured, according to a police affidavit. The affidavit says two men agreed to meet and arrived with associates; witnesses reported weapons were displayed when the groups confronted each other.
Waco police say one man punched his rival and pinned him before gunfire erupted. Officers recovered a blood-covered shotgun at the home, and two residents were shot and taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center; one later died.
Brayan Hernandez, 18, is charged with a first-degree felony for riot resulting in murder based on the affidavit’s assertion that the armed, prearranged gathering made the deadly outcome foreseeable. Detectives also note Hernandez was previously arrested on Aug. 24 for tampering with evidence.
Hernandez is being held in the McLennan County jail; bond has not been set and the case remains under investigation.
