Two realtors assaulted and robbed during Lehigh Acres showing; two men arrested, four sought
Two real estate agents were reportedly assaulted and robbed during a home showing in Lehigh Acres, Lee County. The incident occurred at a residence on Roosevelt Avenue where the agents had met a prospective buyer, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s office reports say the agents met with a client identified as Jonathan Hernandez, who had paid a retainer. Hernandez and another man, Daniel Sam Garay, accused the Miami-based agents of fraud and demanded nearly $12,000 in retainer fees be returned. One realtor listed as a victim reported that Garay displayed a gun, and the report alleges Hernandez used a Taser, shocking one agent three times in the neck.
Three unidentified women and one unidentified man were also present and are accused of stealing the agents’ luxury watches, bracelets, and wallets, the sheriff’s office report states. Video recorded nearby captured deputies arriving and later the arrest of Hernandez; Garay later turned himself in to authorities.
Both Hernandez and Garay are being held at the Lee County Jail as they await hearings. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating and searching for the four unidentified individuals alleged to have been involved. The details above reflect allegations and the current status as recorded by law enforcement in their report.
