Two Dallas residents were detained in Dallas after San Jose detectives connected them to an attempted home-invasion robbery that occurred in San Jose on Sept. 5. San Jose investigators said the suspects posed as delivery persons and one man brandished a firearm while the resident was not home.

Detectives used automated license plate reader hits to identify a vehicle linked to the incident and traced suspects to Dallas. On Sept. 24, San Jose investigators, with assistance from federal and Texas authorities, located and detained the two in Dallas and executed a search at the associated residence.

Police reported they recovered multiple firearms, including the weapon used in the San Jose incident, and evidence tying the men to the case. The San Jose Police Department said the suspects appeared to target victims known for large cryptocurrency holdings. The two were booked into the Dallas County Jail on attempted robbery, stolen-vehicle and firearm-related charges and were awaiting extradition to Santa Clara County.
