Three people were stabbed at a residence near Pinch in Kanawha County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to a home on Dutch Ridge Road after a report of multiple injured people; they located two women and one man with stab wounds, all of whom were alert and speaking at the scene.

Deputies say the incident began inside a pickup truck on Dutch Ridge Road at about 12:40 p.m., when the suspect allegedly began choking one of the occupants. When another occupant attempted to intervene, the suspect is accused of stabbing that man, the choking victim, and a second woman who was also in the vehicle. Those details are attributed to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office; they are allegations at this point and have not been adjudicated in court.

The sheriff’s office identified the person sought as Kelcey Nicholas, 42, of Clay County, and said he fled on foot after the assault. Nicholas is charged with three counts of malicious wounding, per the sheriff’s office release. Deputies continue an active search for the suspect and have asked anyone with information to contact emergency services.

At this time investigators have reported the basic sequence, the identities of the injured as three adults, and the criminal charges filed; no additional verified details about injuries, medical condition, or motive have been released.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
