Palm Beach County authorities say a man is accused of stealing a Kia from a Delray Beach dealership and striking an unmarked law-enforcement vehicle while attempting to flee. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) identifies the suspect as Christopher Charles Dixon, 28, and says officers arrested him in Riviera Beach.

According to the PBSO affidavit, Dixon allegedly drove a Kia Carnival taken from a Delray Kia dealership on South Federal Highway. The vehicle was reportedly tracked to a Publix parking lot on Lake Shore Drive, where Dixon and a woman entered the car. PBSO says agents approached with emergency lights and sirens active.

PBSO alleges that, instead of complying, Dixon drove backward over parking curbs and then accelerated toward an agent’s unmarked vehicle, striking its front end. Deputies contained the vehicle in the parking lot and arrested Dixon, the agency reports.

PBSO has charged Dixon with grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding law enforcement with lights and sirens active, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Those allegations are from the PBSO affidavit and reflect the current case status as described by the agency.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
