Survey: Over Three-Quarters of South Florida Teachers Report Declining Enrollment

More than 1,200 public school teachers in Miami-Dade and Broward counties responded to a non-scientific survey distributed via the counties' teacher unions and reported that falling enrollment has become a major classroom issue. Over 75% of respondents said student enrollment at their schools has declined, reversing previous years' concerns about overcrowding. Teachers cited multiple causes for the drop, including taxpayer-funded private school vouchers and reduced immigration, and noted the shift has changed classroom conditions. The survey also found that low pay remains teachers' top overall concern; districts are pursuing funding measures to address compensation.
