Student Arrested After Stabbing at Miami Northwestern High; Injured Classmates Hospitalized
Miami Fire Rescue crews responded about 12:30 p.m. Monday to reports of an altercation near Miami Northwestern Senior High. An 18-year-old student was found with a stab wound and a juvenile suffered a laceration to the hand; both were taken to hospital in stable condition. Cellphone video of the hallway incident does not clearly show who attacked whom, and one student told investigators the stabbing occurred in self-defense. A juvenile was arrested and appeared in court Tuesday, where a judge ordered house arrest with an ankle monitor; after the hearing the youth’s father said his son had been mistreated and threatened in the days before the incident. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
