Small plane with four aboard lost en route from Great Harbour Cay to Miami; binational search ongoing
A Piper PA-34 carrying four people went missing Monday while flying from Great Harbour Cay to Miami Executive Airport. The aircraft departed after 10 a.m. (family statement says about 10:12 a.m.) and last made contact around 11:04 a.m. near the western side of Andros Island; authorities say the plane may have crashed about 15 miles from Andros. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the U.S. Coast Guard have been notified and are collaborating on a search for the aircraft. Officials have not officially confirmed the occupants’ identities; family members have said an experienced pilot and three relatives were aboard.
