Seven rental vehicles reportedly entered at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport; suspect arrested

Broward County, Florida — Authorities allege a Fort Lauderdale man entered multiple rental vehicles at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Rental Car Center and removed property from inside those cars.

Broward County court records and an arrest warrant identify the suspect and list seven separate vehicle entries, six occurring on Sept. 12 and one on Sept.

16, all involving Avis/Budget rental cars parked in the garage. The arrest warrant names the 56-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident and details the makes and models of several vehicles investigators say were targeted, including recent-model Hyundais, Mercedes, Kias, Mazdas and Cadillacs.

Investigators allege the suspect removed keys or key fobs from the rental vehicles and took property from inside them. According to the warrant, approximately $4,400 in property was taken from six vehicles on Sept.

12 and about $1,800 from a seventh vehicle on Sept. A judge signed the arrest warrant and booking records show the suspect was arrested the day after the warrant was issued.

The accused faces seven counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance while unarmed and two counts of grand theft for property valued between $750 and $5,000. The warrant set bonds totaling $37,000: $5,000 for each burglary count and $1,000 for each grand theft count.
