Second arrest made after early-morning fatal shooting on Cross Keys Road in Lexington
Lexington/Fayette County, Kentucky — Lexington police say a man was fatally shot on Cross Keys Road in the early morning hours of Aug. 29.
Officers discovered the victim shortly after 4:15 a.m.; investigators report the man died from gunshot wounds at the scene. According to the criminal complaint and police statements, multiple vehicle break-ins were reported earlier that night.
Surveillance video and witness accounts allegedly show several suspects breaking into vehicles, then driving one of the taken cars toward Chestnut Street. Police say shots were fired on Ohio Street, striking a man and a woman and damaging three vehicles, before the same group arrived on Cross Keys Road and shot the 26-year-old victim found there.
Lexington police have arrested two teenagers in connection with the homicide. An 18-year-old was arrested previously; a second 18-year-old was taken into custody and is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.
All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
