Sarasota man arrested after traffic stop yields large quantities of narcotics and firearm
A Sarasota man was arrested in Sarasota County after a traffic stop revealed sizable quantities of suspected narcotics and, later, a firearm discovered during a related hotel-room search. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle stop and subsequent investigation occurred after officers stopped the driver for a traffic violation on September 22, 2026.
During the traffic stop deputies located multiple bags containing suspected illegal drugs inside the vehicle. The agency reports recovered items included approximately 30.8 grams of suspected MDMA, 11.9 grams of Methamp, 25.3 grams of cocaine, 8.4 grams of Fent, 8.4 grams of rock cocaine and 2.0 grams of Canna. Investigation led deputies to a rented hotel room along University Parkway where a search warrant was executed.
Inside the hotel room deputies located additional narcotics, drug paraphernalia consistent with narcotics manufacturing or distribution, and a 9mm semiautomatic handgun. The sheriff’s office reports the suspect is a convicted felon who, per the agency, has not had his civil rights restored and therefore is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office charged the 31-year-old defendant with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Methamp with Intent to Sell/Manufacture/Deliver, and Driving While License Suspended. The agency describes the investigation as ongoing and says additional charges are possible pending drug analysis results and fingerprinting.
