Retired captain reflects on role at Miami‑Dade’s 'Heroes of September 11' station
Retired Miami‑Dade Fire Rescue Capt. Gabe Nemeth spoke about the honor of having served as captain of Station 3, known as the 'Heroes of September 11' fire station. The station is the only one in the county with red‑painted units, a tribute to FDNY firefighters kll on Sept. 11, 2001. Nemeth described what the designation and tribute have meant to him since his service. The station continues to carry the red paint as a county memorial to those lost on Sept. 11.
