Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash After Driver Fleeing Traffic Stop Runs Stop Sign in NW Miami‑Dade

Deputies say a driver fled a traffic stop Wednesday evening in northwest Miami‑Dade and ran a stop sign, triggering a crash that kll a motorist. Sheriff’s investigators allege officers conducting the stop discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant, after which the driver fled, entered a dead‑end street, turned around and then ran a stop sign near Northwest 51st Terrace and Northwest 33rd Avenue, colliding with another vehicle and causing it to flip. The impact then pushed the vehicles into an unmarked sheriff’s vehicle being driven by a Robbery Intervention Detail deputy who was searching for the suspect. Miami‑Dade Fire Rescue transported the civilian driver to a hospital, where that person was later pronounced dead; the suspect was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation, and the deputy was treated on scene. Traffic Homicide investigators have taken over the investigation; no additional information has been released. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
