Pedestrian struck and kll on Florida's Turnpike in Cutler Bay; southbound lanes closed
A man standing outside a stopped vehicle on the right emergency shoulder was struck and kll by a Honda Civic on the southbound Florida's Turnpike near Southwest 216th Street just before 5 a.m. Wednesday. Florida Highway Patrol investigators said the pedestrian died at the scene; his identity has not been released. Southbound lanes at Southwest 216th Street were closed for the investigation, and it is unclear when they will reopen. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes while FHP continues its investigation.
