Pedestrian struck and died by train at Fort Lauderdale FEC crossing
Broward County, Florida — Fort Lauderdale police say a pedestrian was struck and died by a Florida East Coast Railway train near the Andrews Avenue and Flagler Drive crossing on the morning of October 2, 2026.
The agency reported the collision occurred just before 10 a.m. and that the person’s identity has not been released. According to Fort Lauderdale Police, the train came to a stop on the tracks after the collision.
The stopped train and emergency response completely blocked Flagler Drive on Andrews Avenue, Sunrise Boulevard, and Northeast 13th Street, prompting traffic control and detours for motorists. The department posted a traffic alert advising drivers to use Broward Boulevard to the south or Oakland Park Boulevard as alternate routes while the scene remained closed.
These roadway restrictions were a direct result of the train remaining on the crossing and the ongoing response activity. Fort Lauderdale Police described the facts above and said an investigation is ongoing.
The involvement of a Florida East Coast Railway train and the location at the Andrews Avenue and Flagler Drive crossing are agency-reported facts; the status of any criminal charges or additional findings had not been documented by the police at the time of the report. No other identifying or medical details were released by the agency, and officials continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
