Palmetto Bay man charged after alleged choking, deputies say

A physical assault was reported Monday afternoon at a residence in Palmetto Bay, Miami-Dade County, where a 37-year-old man was arrested following an altercation involving a female household member, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) reported. Deputies say the incident began during an argument about a recent runaway incident and escalated after the home's live-in boyfriend intervened. According to the arrest report, deputies were summoned to the scene along South Dixie Highway and spoke with the alleged victim and witnesses. Investigators allege the man grabbed the female household member by the neck with both hands, briefly restricting her breathing, then pushed her into a laundry room closet door and to the floor twice. Deputies documented red marks on the neck and an abrasion on the face.
