Off-duty deputy hospitalized after lightning strike hits car near Doral fire rescue HQ
An off-duty Miami-Dade deputy was taken to the hospital after his vehicle was struck by lightning near the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue training center headquarters in Doral. Deputies responded about 5:14 p.m. to reports of a medical emergency and investigators say the deputy was seated in his car during an off-duty assignment when the strike occurred. He was transported by ground to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
