NTSB to Interview Pilots After Miami Cargo Plane Overshot Runway, kll Five

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board are scheduled to interview the two pilots Wednesday morning after an Amazon cargo plane overshot a runway at Miami International Airport Sunday and kll five people on the ground. Both pilots were released from the hospital and will be interviewed as part of the formal investigation; the captain is 55 with 7,145 flight hours and the first officer is 37 with 2,655 flight hours. Investigators recovered the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder — the voice recorder contains more than two hours of good audio and the flight data recorder holds about 55 hours of data — and plan to wait until after crew interviews before publicly releasing a voice-readout. The NTSB, which spent Tuesday collecting perishable evidence, also plans interviews with air traffic controllers, dispatchers and others and is documenting drone images, videos and runway tire marks as part of the probe.
