NTSB: All five kll in Miami cargo plane overrun were in two vehicles struck off the runway

An Amazon Air Boeing 767 overran runway 30 at Miami International Airport on Sunday, struck airport navigational aids, tore through a perimeter fence and collided with two vehicles before coming to rest and catching fire. The National Transportation Safety Board said the aircraft, Amazon Air Flight 7598 operated by 21 Air LLC and arriving from San Juan on the third leg of its day, traveled about 1,300 feet beyond the paved surface; five people were kll and at least five others injured. Investigators recovered the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder and said all fatalities were occupants of the two vehicles hit — a white Ford Econoline van used by a contract cleaning company with seven people aboard and a Toyota Corolla Cross that was traveling on Northwest 67th Avenue. The NTSB continues its on-scene probe and will analyze the recorders and wreckage to determine the cause; no charges or determinations of fault have been announced. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
