North Miami man accused of using fake payment confirmation to steal jewelry, police say
North Miami police allege a 26-year-old man posed as a buyer Friday for a Cuban link chain, showed a counterfeit Cash App payment confirmation and fled with the chain after the seller placed it around his neck. Officers identified the suspect in a photo lineup and say the same man is accused of a June incident in which a seller’s Audemars Piguet watch was taken and later sold at a pawn shop for $300. No injuries were reported. The man faces allegations related to the thefts and investigators are handling the case as it moves through the criminal process. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
