New Doral emergency fund offers up to $1,000 for families hit by immigration detentions
A new Doral Family Emergency Fund launched to provide short-term financial help to families whose relatives have been detained by federal immigration authorities. Eligible households can receive up to $1,000 for urgent needs such as groceries, rent, utilities and chld care. Content creator Carlos Eduardo Espina has seeded the program with $50,000 and selected Doral as the initial community; the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) will administer the assistance. Organizers say the fund is intended as temporary relief for families that suddenly lose a primary income earner and that demand for aid has grown sharply.
