A Milford man pleaded guilty in federal court in Wilmington, Del., to Methamp trafficking and firearm possession charges on September 29, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice said. Charles Meritt, 54, waived indictment and entered guilty pleas to possession with intent to distribute Methamp and to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; sentencing has not yet been set.

Court filings and the Justice Department statement say Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed a federal search warrant at Meritt’s residence on March 16, 2026. Agents reportedly recovered more than 2.5 kilograms of Methamp, more than 600 grams of cocaine, six firearms, a scale and packaging materials.

The Department of Justice statement notes Meritt faces a statutory maximum penalty of life in prison for the charged offenses and that a federal judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors. The DEA’s Philadelphia Field Division investigated the matter with assistance from Delaware State Police; the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware is prosecuting.

Court records for the case are available through the District Court for the District of Delaware and PACER under Case No. 1:25‑CR‑00157‑RGA, according to the Justice Department release.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
