Multiple vehicles ignite outside Homestead home; flames spread to residence
Several vehicles caught fire outside a Homestead residence in Miami-Dade County early Tuesday morning, and the blaze spread to the exterior of the house, authorities said. Homestead police told investigators officers first responded to a vehicle fire on Northwest 9th Street at approximately 2:12 a.m., where flames involved four vehicles parked near the home’s front and side doors. Responding officers established a perimeter and assisted Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews. Firefighters and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Fire Marshal worked at the scene; investigators were observed removing items from the burned vehicles and placing them into sealed containers as part of evidence collection. Neighbors reported seeing someone run from the area shortly before one vehicle ignited and said barking dogs alerted them to the fire, prompting a 911 call out of concern the flames could block occupants’ exits. Police have described those observations but have not stated whether the fire was intentionally set; agency statements indicate investigators are reviewing available evidence to determine the cause. The fire crew, investigators and police cleared the scene by early Tuesday morning. The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Fire Marshal has assumed the investigation, which remains active and ongoing, and authorities said no additional information was immediately available.
