Motorcyclist fatally struck in left-turn collision on Marco Island

A motorcyclist died after a crash at the intersection of North Collier Boulevard and East Elkcam Circle on Marco Island, authorities said. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and the Marco Island Police Department responded to the scene and transported the rider to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to the FHP, the rider, a 67-year-old Marco Island man operating a 2022 Harley-Davidson, was traveling north in the designated left-turn lane on North Collier Boulevard and attempted to turn left onto East Elkcam Circle. A 2019 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 33-year-old Naples man was traveling in the opposite direction and struck the motorcycle on its right side with the front of the pickup. Troopers reported the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The Toyota driver was reported to have no injuries. The FHP described the sequence of movements as the motorcyclist attempting a left turn in front of the approaching Toyota; this characterization is an allegation by the investigating agency and is part of the active crash investigation. The physical facts documented by the FHP include the vehicle makes and model years, the location of the impact (front of the Toyota with the right side of the motorcycle), the lack of helmet use, the transport to Gulf Coast Medical Center, and the rider’s subsequent death.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol with assistance from the Marco Island Police Department. No charges, citations, contributing factors beyond the agencies’ account, or additional injuries have been documented in the available agency report.
