Monroe County volleyball teams active with local matches and tournament play
Monroe County’s high school volleyball programs were busy last week with a slate that included both in-county matchups and tournament competition. Coral Shores hosted a match against Marathon on Aug. 25. Coral Shores swept the match in three sets, handing Marathon a straight-sets loss. Coaches rotated players through the lineup during the match; Coral Shores used 11 different players in its effort. Team reporting noted effective serving and powerful attacks as hallmarks of the Keys squad’s performance that day. The county’s other two programs also took part in local contests and tournament play over the same period, testing depth and providing game experience for returning and newer players. Local athletic staff and school officials coordinated the schedule and game-day operations for the in-county contests, while tournament organizers handled logistics for off-site events. The results reflect early-season competition that will inform coaching decisions and lineup adjustments as teams prepare for their regular seasons and additional tournaments. This summary is based on reporting by Florida Keys Weekly.
