Monroe County OKs $690M Budget; Increases for Public-Safety Roles Included
Monroe County commissioners unanimously adopted a $690 million budget for the coming fiscal year, approving $18 million more in spending than the prior year. County officials told the final budget hearing in Key West on Sept. 14 that the additional funds account for required pay increases for first responders and allocations affecting local law enforcement patrols and emergency medical services. The vote followed presentations and discussion at the public hearing, and the county will now proceed to implement the approved appropriations across departments. Florida Keys Weekly provided the coverage of the budget approval.
