Miramar stylist arrested after six luxury handbags reported missing from client's home
Broward County, Florida — Miramar police say a 31-year-old fashion stylist was arrested after a woman reported six high-value designer handbags missing from her closet at a Miramar residence.
The handbags were first reported missing by the woman on Aug. 3 after she discovered one of her items had not been returned while preparing to leave on a business trip.
She told police the stylist had been authorized to enter her home and had worked for her for about seven years. According to the arrest report, the woman initially instructed the stylist to take a single handbag for professional cleaning.
She alleges he instead took six handbags and did not return them despite multiple attempts by her to recover the items. Miramar police responded to a theft report shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Aug.
17 at the residence identified in the report. Police located the handbags after a social media post seeking information, and said the items were found at a resale business in Aventura named “Cashingdiamonds.”
The business deals in authentic designer handbags and other luxury goods; officers say the handbags had been brought there as collateral for a loan. The six items were identified in the report as five Hermès handbags and one Chanel water bottle, with a combined reported value of $271,938.60.
Miramar police arrested Shaquille Alexander Albert Grant on a first-degree grand theft charge for property valued at more than $100,000, according to jail records. As of Thursday, Grant was being held at the Broward County Main Jail; his bond had not been immediately set.
The woman told police she wanted to prosecute for each handbag, per the arrest report.
