Miami man arrested on 14 petit theft charges after multiple Macy’s, Goodwill incidents
A Miami man was arrested Monday and charged with 14 counts of petit theft after authorities allege he repeatedly stole from a Macy’s in Midway Crossings and a local Goodwill store. Police say the Macy’s incidents occurred 12 times between June 9 and Aug. 21 and involved more than $3,000 in merchandise; separate incidents at the Goodwill included about $115 in merchandise on Sept. 17 and roughly $77 taken during a return visit Monday. Officers responded when he returned to the Goodwill later that day and took him into custody before he was booked into the county jail. He appeared before a judge Tuesday, who ordered him to stay away from the stores and set bond at $35,000; the case will proceed through the local court system. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
