Miami-Dade Seeks Revenue Through GTA Partnership
Miami-Dade County is exploring a partnership with Rockstar Games to temporarily rebrand Miami International Airport as 'Vice City Airport' for the upcoming 'Grand Theft Auto' VI game. The proposal includes Vice City manhole covers. The county aims to capitalize on Miami's long-standing relationship with the game, which features the city. The initiative is met with mixed reactions, with some residents viewing it as a departure from the city's current image. The proposal also includes a partnership with a local souvenir shop to sell vintage shirts from when GTA featured Miami in 2002. The mural celebrating Vice City is located in Wynwood. A spokesperson from Miami-Dade County stated, 'Given Miami-Dade’s clear influence on the game, we think there could be a unique opportunity to generate revenue for the County while showcasing Miami-Dade to a massive audience.'
