Miami-Dade crews use rope rescue to free people trapped in stalled elevator
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded after an elevator became stuck with people inside. Crews checked the occupants and found no injuries, but the car’s position required the department’s technical rescue team for a specialized extraction. Firefighters rigged an anchor, harness and safety-line system and lowered a trained rescuer into the car to lift the occupants to safety. The department did not immediately disclose the elevator’s location or what caused the malfunction; no injuries were reported and the incident remains under review.
