Mercer County officials warn drivers about slick wet leaves this fall
Mercer County emergency management officials are urging drivers to treat wet leaf-covered roads like winter weather. Director Keith Gunnoe warned that fallen leaves reduce tire traction and advised drivers to cut speed, increase following distance and slow for curves to avoid loss of control.
Motorcyclists should be especially cautious, and motorists were also told to watch road edges for ponding where leaves collect. The guidance aims to prevent crashes as rainy conditions combine with seasonal leaf fall across Mercer County roads.
