Man who escaped custody at Mount Sinai found hiding under tarp after large search

A 36-year-old man who fled custody at Mount Sinai Medical Center was found hiding under a tarp inside the hospital after a large-scale search that included K-9 teams, drones and multiple law enforcement agencies. Officers had initially arrested the man Wednesday at a Burger King after employees reported he repeatedly harassed staff and asked for money; they trespassed him from the property and he refused to provide identification. During the first arrest officers reported finding a Florida ID and two debit cards in his name, a black stun gun and a can of pepper spray; the weapons were impounded and records showed multiple felony convictions. He was transported to the hospital for medical clearance, later escaped but was taken back into custody after being located, and authorities say he will be processed through the Miami Beach Police Department. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
