Kanawha County deputies say Thomas Edward Wines, 47, of Charleston, died after his pickup entered a work‑zone lane on Interstate 79 late Friday night and struck a parked dump truck. Wines was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene; his truck then drifted back into the traffic lane and was hit by a southbound passenger vehicle.

The two people in the passenger car were not injured. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team continues to investigate the collision and has released Wines’ name.
