Man arrested in connection with 2024 Cutler Bay sh00ting near Franjo Park
A 40-year-old Homestead man was arrested last Thursday in connection with an Oct. 21, 2024 sh00ting near Franjo Park that injured two people and sent families at a nearby chldren’s baseball game scrambling for cover. Investigators say a shootout between neighbors and occupants of a passing vehicle occurred at about 7:45 p.m.; the suspect and others allegedly arrived in two stolen vehicles with unassigned plates and fired multiple times toward the victims. One person was struck in the right thigh and another in the right ankle; both were taken by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Jackson South Medical Center. Two witnesses identified the suspect as a shooter and recorded video of the vehicle as it fled; the arrest report also links the suspect to prior gang-related shootings connected to people associated with the victims. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
