Man Arrested After Lunging at Deputies with Knife in Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County deputies arrested a 41-year-old man after he threatened to cause death family members and law enforcement and lunged at deputies with a knife at a home on the Clay Pit Road. The incident occurred on September 24, 2026; deputies were dispatched at 10:18 a.m. after a report that the man threatened to cause death family members or himself.

When deputies arrived they located the subject in his bedroom. The agency reports he initially refused to cooperate, threatened to cause death deputies, and then kicked a deputy in the chest while attempting to disarm another deputy’s Taser. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the man grabbed a knife from beside his bed and lunged at deputies with the weapon pointed toward them.

Deputies deployed Tasers and say the subject ultimately dropped the knife and was taken into custody. The Sheriff’s Office states he was placed under Baker Act provisions and transported to the Orient Road Jail. Charges listed by the agency include Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer; two counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer; Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Deadly Weapon; and resisting an officer with and without violence.

The Sheriff’s Office notes the subject has a criminal history dating to 2013, including Second-Degree Murder and DUI charges. The Public Affairs Office says the case remains an active investigation and that a booking photo will be released when available.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
