Man Arrested After Liberty City sh00ting; Police Say Suspect Admitted Involvement

A sh00ting in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood left a man critically wounded in the leg on Sunday evening, and Miami police arrested a 33-year-old suspect who they say admitted involvement. The sh00ting occurred just after 5 p.m. in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 68th Street, where officers responded initially to a ShotSpotter alert and located the wounded man in his 40s. Police say surveillance video showed the victim exiting a blue Ford Fiesta carrying a gun, crossing the street, and then being fired upon by the suspect, identified by authorities as Micah Lendale Tilley of Opa-locka. According to the arrest report, officers say Tilley fired both a handgun and a rifle; investigators allege Tilley pursued the victim while continuing to fire along Northwest 68th Street. About 15 minutes after medics transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, authorities say Tilley approached an officer in a nearby alleyway and told the officer, “I did it.” When asked, “Did what?” police say Tilley replied, “The sh00ting,” and told detectives he had acted because he “saw the victim exit his vehicle with a firearm in his hand.” Those statements are described in the arrest report and in police accounts. Tilley was booked on charges that include attempted murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, unlawful discharge of a firearm, improper exhibition of a firearm and criminal solicitation. Miami-Dade jail records listed his bond as to be set, and he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at the time of the report. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
