Man accused of fleeing deputies charged in crash that kll Bahamian artist
Miami-Dade deputies say a 21-year-old man fled a traffic stop after officers discovered an outstanding warrant for military desertion, then ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle in a residential neighborhood Sept. 2. Authorities say the crash caused the struck vehicle to roll and strike a third car; surveillance footage reportedly captured the fleeing vehicle running the sign before impact. The driver of the rolled vehicle, a 55-year-old Bahamian artist, later died. The suspect was taken into custody and is charged with vehicular homicide in a reckless manner and fleeing and eluding; the case remains under investigation and prosecution is pending. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
