License-plate reader prompts arrest of man in Loxahatchee on stolen-vehicle charge

A man was arrested in Loxahatchee after a license-plate reader alerted deputies to a vehicle reported stolen out of Martin County. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records show deputies responded about 4:15 a.m. on Sept. 27 to Seminole Pratt Whitney Road and 93rd Street North after the automated alert identified the car.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the vehicle had been reported stolen in Martin County. When the Palm Beach County deputy arrived, other law enforcement personnel already had the driver detained. Arrest records identify the man as Juan Rodriguez-Sullivan, 22; he is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a felony.

The affidavit reports that deputies advised Rodriguez-Sullivan of his Miranda rights and later attempted to speak with him, but he declined to provide additional statements. He was transported to the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center without incident, the report says.

Allegations in the arrest records are limited to the charge of grand theft of a motor vehicle and the claim that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Martin County. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is the documenting agency for the response and arrest. The current public record shows booking and charges; no conviction, disposition, injuries, or further investigative steps are included in the documents cited.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
