Lauderhill couple says gunfire struck their car during dispute outside their home
Broward County, Florida — Lauderhill police responded after a reported shooting on Aug.
17 in which a vehicle was struck, according to the reporting. A married couple told investigators they were sitting in their car outside their Lauderhill residence when someone fired into the vehicle.
They said they sped away and then called police. The vehicle damage and the couple’s presence in the car that night are reported facts tied to the Aug.
According to the couple’s account, a group of teens and an accompanying adult came to the home after an earlier fight involving their daughter and others. The couple alleges the group demanded to know whether the visiting teen lived there, sprayed what the couple described as mace at the woman, and that a brick was thrown through a window before shots were fired.
Those details are allegations reported by the couple and have not been corroborated by investigators in the reporting. Lauderhill Police have said they currently have limited information and that a detective still needs to speak with the woman who reported the incident.
Agency action documented so far is an initial response to the shooting and assignment of follow-up investigative work pending that interview. The department has not provided additional confirmed details about suspects, motive, or any arrests in the reporting.
At this stage, reported facts include the Aug. 17 police response, a vehicle struck by gunfire, and the couple’s statement that they were inside the car and then left the scene to call police.
Allegations about who fired, the sequence leading up to the shots, and involvement of specific teens or an adult remain the couple’s account and are subject to police verification. No charges, suspect identifications, or forensic findings were reported as concluded at the time of publication.
