Key West police alert residents to phone scam impersonating federal agents
The Key West Police Department has issued an alert about a phone-based fraud scheme in which callers present themselves as federal law-enforcement personnel and assert affiliation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to Florida Keys Weekly, those on the calls tell targets they are investigating fraudulent or financial activity and claim the targets’ personal, financial and identity information are compromised.
