Investigation, lawsuits continue a week after cargo plane overruns MIA runway
Investigators are still collecting evidence a week after an Amazon cargo plane ran off runway 30 at Miami International Airport and struck a van, kll five people. Surveillance video shows the aircraft crashing just before 2 p.m. last Sunday, and Miami-Dade officials say five people were taken to hospitals—three critically injured and two with less severe injuries. Survivors have described the plane approaching at high speed; one survivor, Roosevelt Torres, and his wife have sued Amazon, 21 Air and related entities, naming Captain Joseph Carroll and First Officer Jamie Felipe Silva Molina in the complaint. A separate wrongful-death lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the family of victim Javier Quisquivedo, whose wife and 14-year-old daughter are in Cuba, according to their attorney Carlos Silva.
