A Raleigh woman was died and a man identified by police was arrested near Whitaker Mill Road and Pine Street, according to court and police records reviewed in the investigation. Raleigh Police report that the suspect was found with a bloody rock and later acknowledged the death when questioned under warrant.

Records reviewed show the accused has a long criminal history, including 30 convictions across Wake and Durham counties and prior violent incidents in Raleigh and Durham. Reports describe prior arrests, plea reductions, prison time, probation violations and psychiatric evaluations.

Documents indicate prosecutors in a Wake County case previously sought involuntary commitment after the suspect was found incapable of proceeding. At this time the case remains in the hands of Wake County criminal authorities while charges are pursued, per records and police reports.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
