Homestead man charged after alleged tip-jar thefts at two eateries

A 44-year-old Homestead man has been charged with theft after authorities say he took cash from tip jars at two local businesses over a three-day span. Police allege he stole $150 from a tip jar at a bakery on Aug. 18 and later entered a Dairy Queen on Aug. 20; surveillance video from the bakery was shared publicly. The arrest affidavit identified the suspect as a DoorDash driver who the company says is no longer working for them; an arrest report led to criminal charges. The case is being handled by local prosecutors, and the businesses said they are relieved the suspect is no longer coming into their stores. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
