High‑speed pursuit from Miami Beach ends in North Miami after PIT maneuver
A police pursuit that began in Miami Beach after 7 p.m. on March 20 ended in North Miami when troopers stopped the fleeing SUV with a PIT maneuver. Officers first attempted to stop the blue Mercedes on the Dolphin Expressway; hours later it was spotted on Ocean Drive and later intercepted on I‑95 before crashing into another vehicle at an exit and continuing to flee. Troopers performed the PIT near Northwest Seventh Avenue, righted and towed the SUV, and both occupants were taken into custody without further incident; a gun was recovered from the vehicle. FHP said a trooper discharged a firearm toward the SUV during the pursuit but no one was struck; investigators are processing the scene and investigating the incident. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
