Group of students allegedly beats 15-year-old at Nova High School football game in Davie
Broward County, Florida — A 15-year-old boy was beaten by a group of students Friday during a varsity football game at Nova High School in Davie.
Video of the incident shows multiple teenagers surrounding and striking the boy; the assault lasted more than a minute, according to the available account. The victim, a 10th-grade student, was hospitalized for one day following the attack.
Davie Police Department has opened an investigation after the footage surfaced. School administrators and Broward County Public Schools have identified students they believe appear in the video and have contacted their parents.
School officials told investigators they are cooperating fully with Davie police as the inquiry continues. Allegations reported include that seven children took part in the attack and that the victim may have been targeted because of his friend group; those claims are attributed to the victim’s mother and the school’s review, not to findings by law enforcement.
The known, documented facts are the video recording of the assault, the subsequent hospitalization of the 15-year-old for one day, and that the police department is investigating. BCPS has said any students determined to have been involved will face appropriate disciplinary consequences.
At this time no arrests, charges, or criminal case outcomes have been reported; the investigation remains active with Davie Police and school officials reviewing the matter.
